Foundation of Art

Art is in fact all around us, we just don’t recognize it. From the unique shapes of windows, homes, cars all the way down to the structure of our clothing does, in fact, have relation to art at one point in the production process. For my Foundation of Art project, I chose to research a designer whom I did not know prior, as well, as one in which designs outside of my personal comfort zone; all while still including something I’m passionate about that being, architecture. Emilio Pucci is known for his unique pattern designs incorporating geometric shapes. Prior to Emilio becoming a designer he fell in love with architecture which is shown throughout his designs.

Together I saw that both Emilio Pucci and Van Gogh had an eye for color, dimension, and the elusion to make their piece “move”. I saw that both Pucci and Van Gogh did this in fact by color choice adding tint, to some sections of their pieces. Allowing the piece to speak for itself. While Van Gogh did not make brush strokes purposely all in which came naturally. As for Pucci specifically designed his patters-prints in order to achieve a beautiful geometric piece. This also allowed me to connect that art can in fact be as simple as creating a color tint. Art is among fashion, while it may not be evident as quickly it makes up many designs structurally and color-wise.
